This blog features one of our lovely Brides Nicole who tied the knot with her sweetheart Ben in March 2017 after a whirlwind romance – We usually write the blog based on the brides responses to our Q and A but this bride wrote such a lovely story and captured all the wedding details so beautifully  that we decided to post it just as she wrote it –
So here is Nicole and Bens story

“In the summer of 2017 Ben proposed and 7 months later, at the beginning of March 2018, we became Mr and Mrs.

Our chosen wedding venue was Buxted Park Hotel, East Sussex;https://www.handpickedhotels.co.uk/buxtedpark# this was the perfect venue for us, it offered a range of stunning function rooms, beautiful surroundings, delicious food and accommodation on site. They offered a package to have exclusive use of the venue which we did; it was nice to just be with the people we loved.  One truly magical element to our day was our venue looked stunning and was truly a white wedding; we had the remainder of snow from what was aptly named ‘the beast from the East’!

My dress, the Penelope gown from Romantica of Devon,https://romanticaofdevon.co.uk was just stunning and incredibly comfortable. After visiting Bustles and Bows and trying on a small selection of dresses, I knew immediately it was the one for me. It had beautiful detail and looked soft and elegant; it was perfect. Helen was great and is clearly an expert when it comes to all wedding outfits. What I loved about Bustles and Bows is that they do all the alterations on site themselves; to me this was a huge bonus as if there were any last minute alterations needed, I knew they would be able to immediately assist unlike some places where they send off the gown and you have to wait weeks. The process of ordering the dress, going for fittings and collecting my dress were all seamless (no pun intended); Helen was great at keeping in contact and keeping me up to date with progress on the dress. I absolutely loved my dress the minute I tried it on and I still love it now!

In terms of our wedding, we really wanted to celebrate our cultures Nigerian, Swiss and British and this influenced our theme. Every guest, according to the seating plan, was sent a different pattern of Nigerian cloth (this matched the centre piece for their table). We asked our guests to make something to wear on the day. We were completely blown away by their creations; men created bow ties, handkerchiefs or ties while our female guests made handbags, headbands, fascinators, hair clips and badges. It made for a sea of vibrant colour. To further the theme, my mum spent hours making decorative hearts that were hung on trees in the centre of the table; these doubled up as favours for our guests to take away. She also made candleholders from jars with the matching cloth. In terms of the Swiss influence, we went for a cake made of cheese! I am a huge cheese lover anyway but Switzerland is renowned for its delicious cheese. We also had a chocolate cake (another Swiss delicacy) for our guests who were not partial to cheese.  Cakes were not a huge priority for us however; we purchased them from a supermarket and they were perfect! On the cakes and dotted all around the venue we had pairs of bride and groom corks hand painted and decorated; in total I made around 40, it was something I had seen online and thought was cute!

Music was a big factor in our wedding, this started with having our friend play the saxophone during the wedding ceremony, followed by gospel choir, Get Gospel, http://www.getgospel.co.uk singing during our reception drinks in the hotel’s orangery and to finish the night we had a band, Motown Gold https://earcandylive.co.uk/acts/motown-gold-frontline/?gclid=EAIaIQobChMIpeCNn7L14AIV67XtCh28SQcwEAAYASAAEgJMlvD_BwEto make sure the guests danced the night away.

We wanted our wedding to have unique little touches but most of all, be a day for family, friends and ourselves to all be together and be enjoy. We literally had the best day!
